The Volunteer Committee would not exist without our members!
Members of The Committee elect a volunteer Board of Directors at its Annual General Meeting held in the fall. The Board term is 3 years, with a maximum term of 9 consecutive years. As the Committee is entirely volunteer run, the Board provides management functions such as implementing policies, managing resources, and liaising with The National Ballet of Canada.
Each year, in consultation with The National Ballet, the membership decides how the annual donation to the National Ballet will be directed, usually in support of a new production, but funds have also been directed to the refurbishment of costumes, the 60th anniversary celebrations and in support of the Gretchen Ross Production Centre where the Prop Shop is named in honour of the Volunteer Committee. While many members support the Ballet Boutique, our main fundraising project, others may opt to support special projects as opportunities arise.
